Stomper upset over root beer float at SingPost Astons: 'What a disappointment'
He felt 'short-changed'.
Stomper Chee Hian was frustrated when he was served a root beer float at Astons Specialities' outlet at SingPost Centre in Paya Lebar on New Year's Day (Jan 1).
Why? Because of the portion of root beer poured into his cup.
In a photo shared with Stomp, the drink is about two to three fingers below the rim of the mug.
He said: "This is what inflation is? Even the root beer comes up short! What a disappointment.
"I did give the waiter a chance to correct the issue, he stood firm and stood by the new SOP (standard operating procedure)."
He added that if this is their new SOP, that would be his last order.
"For Astons to even consider measuring 200ml precisely is really amazing," he said.
Although he considered returning the drink, his family advised against it.
Chee Hian ultimately decided to keep the order but was left dissatisfied, calling the portion "unsightly" for what he described as a "not-so-cheap drink."
According to Astons Specialities' website, a root beer float costs $4.80.
