Resident flashes middle finger at Stomper over Bukit Panjang 'beer corner' -- that's still there after a year
A "smoking and beer corner" remains in Bukit Panjang even though it has been over a year since the issue was first reported on Stomp.
Stomper W shared photos taken in October, showing a man sitting under a canopy at the makeshift spot at Block 473 Segar Road.
Furniture, potted plants and fencing can also be seen cluttering the area.
W said he had an unsavoury encounter with the man on Oct 19 at around 9.29pm.
"I was resting at the central pavilion for mental health, yet ended up he continued smoking and smoking while beering at his garden again," the Stomper recounted.
"When I tried to approach him and was less than five metres away, he aggressively returned a middle finger."
W also took issue with inconsiderate behaviour by other residents of the block: "Look at the unsecure way of hanging clothes. The banana trees are also blocking drivers and other residents walking to the bus stop."
In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for Holland-Bukit Panjang Town Council said on Oct 27: "Our property team, together with community volunteers, has been engaging the resident concerned. The resident has been advised to remove the setup from the common area by Nov 2.
"The town council would like to emphasise that the safety and well-being of our residents remain our top priority. We urge all residents to cooperate in keeping common areas clear and safe, as unobstructed pathways are essential, especially during emergencies.
"Thank you for your understanding and continued support in helping us maintain a safe and harmonious living environment for all."

However, W said the "smoking and beer corner" is still there.
He first provided feedback about the issue in Sept 2024, but noted that the resident missed the town council's deadline for removal of his items.
The town council told Stomp in Oct 2024: "We noticed a recurring pattern where items were consistently being returned to the common areas.
"Despite our ongoing efforts, the resident has yet to fully comply, and instances of non-compliance persist. As a result, we will be intensifying our educational efforts while implementing stricter enforcement measures to address the situation."
W told Stomp on Nov 10: "I have reported this many times, but it's no use."
