Nurse inspired by childhood plush giraffe hopes to collect 200 pre-loved toys for kids in need
When nurse Emily Yap stumbled on her old plush giraffe during spring cleaning, she was hit with a wave of childhood memories.
"For a moment, I hesitated," the 26-year-old recalled. "But tucked away in a drawer, it would bring joy to no one.
"So I cleaned it and set it aside for this year's fair."

That small act has since grown into a mission.
Her mother, Stomper Audrey, told Stomp she is now rallying for 200 pre-loved toys to be donated at the upcoming Children's Charities Association (CCA) Annual Fair, happening on Oct 18 at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza.
The toy drive will run from 8am to 5pm.
The initiative is part of the Recycle Right campaign, which encourages people to reduce, reuse and recycle.
For Emily, it's also about showing how meaningful it can be to give items a second life.
Emily, who also founded the youth volunteer group Dunearn Youth, hopes families will take the opportunity to teach their children about compassion and sustainability.
"Every toy has a story," she said. "Share yours. Bring smiles," she said.
