She said yes - and paid dearly for it.

Stomper Stephanie visited Food Republic at Nex on Aug 26 and ordered dinner from Lau Di Fang Scissors Cut Curry Rice.

She was shocked when her bill came up to $22.80 for two sets of economy rice, including takeaway charges.

Stephanie recounted: "Everything was fine until the lady asked me if I wanted sweet and sour fish. Since I loved sweet and sour fish, I said yes.

"When it came to billing, I had a shock. The sweet and sour fish alone cost $12 for three pieces. They were not big pieces, but cost $4 each. It was just normal sweet and sour fish, and a bit hard and over-fried."

Stephanie was charged $14.80 for the box of rice that had the fish. She paid $8 for the second box of rice, including $5 for prawn.

The Stomper noted that the stall did not have prices displayed, adding: "Please be careful when ordering cai fan from Food Republic."

Stomp has contacted Food Republic for more info.

Lau Di Fang Scissors Cut Curry Rice at Nex has a Google rating of 1.4 stars across 24 reviews, with multiple customers complaining about its high prices.
