Two women attacked by man with metal rod after resisting robbery in Tampines
Two women were allegedly assaulted with a metal rod by a man after they tried to resist a robbery in Tampines.
A 40-year-old man demanded the female victims, aged 82 and 30, to hand over their valuables.
When they did not, he allegedly used a metal rod to assault them.
The police were alerted to a case of attempted armed robbery with hurt at Tampines Street 22 on May 12 at 1.30pm.
The two victims sustained injuries and were conveyed conscious to the hospital.
The man was arrested within three hours of the report, and the metal rod was seized as a case exhibit.
He will be charged in court on May 14 with the offence of attempted armed robbery with hurt.
The offence carries a jail term of between five and 20 years, and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
Members of the public who encounter similar cases are advised to remain calm, take note of the physical appearance and distinctive features of the perpetrator, and call the police as soon as possible.
