A loud tyre explosion from a truck travelling along the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) towards the city startled construction workers and road users on Monday afternoon (Nov 4).

Stomper Jonathan, who shared video footage provided by The Diecast Center, said the incident occurred at about 2.44pm, just before the Bukit Batok exit.

In the video, a loud sound is heard as the truck's tyre blows out, causing debris to scatter into the air and across the expressway.

The driver is able to stop the truck and exit to pick up some of the large pieces of debris.

He also places traffic cones behind the vehicle to alert other drivers.

Jonathan reported that several workers from nearby rail construction projects rushed out upon hearing the explosive sound.

"No one was injured but the debris flew high and far everywhere," he said.

"I hope everyone stays safe on the road and that road users maintain their vehicles, including their tyres, to prevent such occurrences from happening."

"Everyone should take this as a reminder to stay safe on the roads," the Stomp reader advised. "Drivers should ensure their vehicles, especially tyres, are properly maintained to avoid these situations."

The footage of the tyre blowout is exclusively shared here on Stomp, showcasing the moment that startled workers and passers-by along the PIE.
