Tampines residents fed up with flood of flyers at their gates: 'They keep coming and coming'
Tampines residents are frustrated over the persistent issue of unsolicited flyers being stuffed into their gates and littering their common corridors.
Stomper Yvonne was compelled to share her experience after reading an earlier Stomp article regarding a Bidadari resident who says property agent flyers at doors are a 'nuisance' and a security risk.
"I totally agree that this is a complete nuisance and I see lots of flyers chucked in between my door and gate," she said, adding that they even clutter her doorstep.
"I can't be bothered to remove these stupid flyers as they keep coming and coming."
She described the flyers as 'useless junk' and the situation as 'hopeless'.
She added that she is not the only one at Block 145 Tampines Street 12 dealing with this problem.
"My neighbour even put a plastic bag outside their gate to throw these damn stupid flyers, and yet the distributors continue to distribute," she said.
The Stomper also highlighted the stark difference between official town council mail delivered securely into locked letterboxes and the informal, unsolicited distribution of commercial flyers directly at residents' gates.
"My letter box is locked so the flyers are not put into my letter box," she said.
"If town councils were to send me freebies like calendars or an official slip to remind me of my conservancy fee, it would be put into my letterbox by SingPost personnel," she said.
"I would classify these as important notifications.
"I did see lots of pamphlets and flyers all over the areas near the mailboxes previously, and it seems that now the distributors have since gone to the units of the residents to slot the flyers."
Emphasising that gates are private areas, Yvonne said this is not right.
"I sincerely hope the authorities will stop this to prevent flyer distributors from slotting unwanted papers at our properties," she said.
"Go green, go paperless."
