A Pasir Ris resident's routine car wash took an unfortunate turn when his car washing supplies mysteriously vanished at an HDB carpark washing bay in the early hours of Hari Raya (March 31).

Stomper Nasrul told Stomp that he had finished washing his car at Block 527D Pasir Ris Street 51 at about 4.30am.

He explained that since the washing bay is located near to his lift lobby, he will usually leave his washing equipment -- including towels, buckets and car shampoo -- so that he can retrieve them after parking his car.

"As I was rounding the carpark, I noticed a blue Honda Fit rounding the carpark too, and at one moment, he entered the washing bay," he said.

Assuming the driver was also doing a last-minute car wash before Hari Raya visitations, he initially thought nothing of it.

However, when he decided to return to the bay to collect his items, the Honda Fit had already driven off -- and so had his car washing equipment.

In dashcam footage shared by the Stomper, the car shampoo was still there before the Honda Fit arrived.

"Prior to the Honda Fit entering the washing bay, I had checked using my car's high beam to see if my car shampoo was still there," he said. "I had put my blue drying towel on top of the shampoo as seen in the video."

"I continued trying to find a lot and had the intention to take my items after finding one but while I was rounding, I changed my mind and went back to the washing bay as I did not want to inconvenience the other driver with my washing stuff laying around."

Frustrated by the unexpected theft, Nasrul lamented, "What a way to start my Hari Raya..."

He has since made a police report.

The police confirmed with Stomp that a report was lodged and investigations are ongoing.
