Stomper pays $6 for economy rice at Bedok hawker centre: 'I feel ripped off'
A man was shocked after being charged $6 for an economy rice meal at Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre on March 23.
Stomper Jack ordered a meal consisting of white rice, pork chop, curry vegetables, and tau pok from Ali Shan.
He noted that no prices were displayed beside the food items, but based on the price list, a "2 Veg + 1 Meat" meal was $3.80.
"I know that pork chop usually costs more, so I expected to pay around $4.50 or at most, $5," he said.

However, when the stall assistant told him the price was $6, he was taken aback.
He asked about the pork chop's price and was told it was $3.50.
Jack compared this to the Koufu food court at Punggol Plaza, where the same meal costs $6 -- but in an air-conditioned setting.
"To me, a hawker centre charging the same price as a food court in a mall is atrocious," he said. "This is totally ridiculous, and I feel I have been ripped off."
Jack said he wants to warn others about this stall and urges customers to look out for stalls without price tags, as they may overcharge unsuspecting customers.
"The lack of price tags is a sign of a potential scam -- I should have known that."
