A shopper was shocked to find she had been charged $17.51 instead of $1.75 for papaya at Prime Supermarket at Block 678 Woodlands Avenue 6.

The incident happened on Nov 4 at about 11.12am.

Stomper Anonymous said her sister had used the self-checkout counter and only realised the overcharge after getting home.

"She went back to the store to ask for a refund," said the Stomper.

"The store issued her a refund, but the staff's comments were a bit unfriendly.

They told her, 'You should have checked after scanning leh.'"

In response to a Stomp query, a Prime Supermarket spokesperson said: "The pricing issue was due to a barcode error. Our staff has since apologised to the customer and processed a refund. We have also rechecked the affected stock and rectified the issue immediately.

"We remain committed to improving our service and ensuring a better experience for all our customers."
