Serangoon cleaner finds men sleeping on discarded mattress and cardboard out in the open
A group of men were seen sleeping on a discarded mattress by a cleaner in Serangoon on March 8, though they had disappeared by the time town council officers arrived.
Stomper M, who learned about the incident through the estate cleaner, told Stomp that the men were sighted at Block 215A Serangoon Avenue 4 at 7.12am.
M shared a photo he said was taken by the estate cleaner. Four men can be seen resting on motorcycle lots in an open-air parking space. Two men are on a discarded mattress, while another two are lying down on cardboard placed on the ground.
According to the Stomper, this is the first time this has happened and he submitted feedback promptly to Aljunied-Hougang Town Council (AHTC) through the OneService app.
M told Stomp: "I personally feel this makes it hard for conservancy cleaners, who start work before 7am, to do their job properly."

The Stomper empathised with his estate cleaner, noting that conservancy cleaners – many of whom are migrant workers from less developed countries – work hard to remit money to their families back home.
Town council officers promptly inspected area
An AHTC spokesperson told Stomp that it received feedback on the group of sleeping men via its feedback channel, and its officers attended to the matter promptly.
However, when officers arrived to inspect the area, no people or items were found at the location.
"If our officers encounter any persons resting or sleeping in the estate's common areas, we will assess the situation and offer assistance as appropriate," said the AHTC spokesperson on March 11.
The spokesperson explained that such assistance may include notifying the relevant agency so that outreach and support can be extended where needed.
