Screen falls off another Samsung TV, startles cat
A screen fell off another Samsung television set, and this time, it was caught on video.
Stomper CT shared CCTV footage of the entire front panel detaching from the rest of the TV before tipping over in her living room on March 17 at around 4.30am. A cat behind a sofa at the side of the room was startled and ran off.
This is the third time a Stomper has reported the screen falling off their Samsung TV in less than six months. One incident was reported in November 2025 and the other in February 2026, both of which prompted CT to share her own experience with Stomp.
CT had bought her Samsung 65-inch TV for $2,499 in 2019. It came with a three-year warranty. She was shocked when she discovered the screen had fallen off.
“It happened just before I came down to prepare my pre-dawn meals for the family,” recounted CT. “I’m so glad none of my cats were nearby.”
But it was still “quite concerning”, she said, even though the TV is no longer under warranty.
“I mean, yes, electronic items will have a limit on how long they will last. But a screen suddenly coming off is not something anyone wants to experience, especially those who have small kids or, in my case, pets,” explained the Stomper.
“It’s not like anyone came and knocked on the screen to trigger anything.”
In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for Samsung said on March 31: “We have been in active contact with the customer to provide support for the incident. The issue has been since resolved.”
CT said that after Stomp contacted Samsung, someone was sent to collect her TV. She was told that her TV would be repaired and returned to her at no charge.
