A man was surprised to find that the screen had fallen off his Samsung television set when he came home one day.

Stomper Lim said he made the discovery on Feb 26 after returning from a two-week trip overseas.

"My 55-inch Samsung QLED TV panel suddenly crashed down for no reason and cracked. Luckily, my kid was not home or standing there," he told Stomp on Feb 28.

He claimed his child had never meddled with the TV, and it was next to a window that was facing south, so the TV was not under direct sunlight.

The Stomper contacted Samsung shortly after the discovery.

"They said the TV was out of warranty and advised me to buy a new set, which would be cheaper than repairing it," he told Stomp.

Lim had purchased the $2,099 smart TV from Audio House in December 2019.

He asked: "Isn't this a serious safety issue rather than just a defect?"

The Stomper contacted Samsung again two days later, on Feb 28.

He said: "Initially, they brushed me off again, saying I needed to pay for their technician to come down to assess and charges would apply. I pointed out that they should see this as a safety hazard and escalate to higher management. They said they would contact me again."

Lim updated on March 3 that Samsung had sent someone to collect his TV for repair at no charge.

In a subsequent response to Stomp, a Samsung spokesperson said: "We have been in active contact with the customer to provide support for the incident.

"The issue has since been resolved."

Similar incident in November 2025

Stomp had previously received reports of similar incidents.

In November 2025, Stomper SGcollector shared photos of his Samsung QLED TV after its screen had fallen off.

He told Stomp: "Normally, people are worried the mounting is not done properly, causing the whole TV to drop. But in this case, the mounting is okay, but the entire front panel peeled off and dropped. Luckily, no one was home and walking in front of the TV."
