Restaurant says menu 'for illustration purposes only' after diner feels offended by actual dish
A diner took issue with how different the chicken ginseng soup he ordered looked from its menu picture.
Stomper William said he visited Wok Master's City Square outlet for dinner on Sept 5 and paid around $10 for the dish, excluding rice and egg.
He recounted: "I was so shocked to see just a few tiny pieces of chicken in the soup, as compared to the picture in the menu.
"It was not even the usual bite-sized chicken that you get from a hawker stall, which makes this more shocking as Wok Master is a restaurant."

William contacted Wok Master with his feedback after the meal. The restaurant replied in a Sept 8 email that was seen by Stomp.
Wok Master told William in the email: "Thank you for your feedback. We apologise for any confusion regarding the menu pictures. Please note that the images are for illustration purposes only, and the actual dishes may vary in appearance.
"As for the Ginseng Chicken Soup, it is traditionally a broth-based dish where the chicken is used to create a rich and flavorful soup, rather than being served primarily as a meat dish. We understand this may differ from some expectations, and we appreciate your understanding.
"We value your feedback and hope to welcome you back for another dining experience."
William told Stomp on Sept 13: "I find it concerning that restaurants think it is okay to print pictures of food that are not representative of their actual dish.
"I obviously found it offensive, but I was wondering what does the general public think of this? May I get your views if this is misleading diners or not?"
