People's Park Complex ditches yellow for bold red in first major repaint since 2009
Say goodbye to yellow and green - People's Park Complex is going red.
Stomper Steven shared photos of the iconic building in Chinatown getting a major makeover, and it's looking very different from what most Singaporeans are used to.
The landmark, known for its Brutalist architecture and history as the first shopping complex here with an atrium, is getting a fresh coat of paint for the first time in over a decade.
According to the National Library Board, in its early days, the building stood with nothing but bare, exposed concrete.
In 1998, it was painted orange and green, and in 2009, it was painted the familiar yellow and green that has become part of the Chinatown skyline.

But now, it's going red, and Steven certainly approves of the facelift.
"It's more colourful than before and the additional red is certainly a refreshing look," he said.

"This is especially so when it forms the background for the giant Chinese horoscope animal during Lunar New Year. Red is for prosperity anytime!
"Great job!"
