Man exits car to confront Merc driver after losing parking lot at Heartbeat@Bedok
A simple parking search turned into a tense moment at Heartbeat@Bedok on Nov 7.
Stomper Francis alerted Stomp to the incident and shared footage from his in-car camera taken at about 11.08am.
From the video, a black Mercedes can be seen reversing into a parking lot that a silver car appeared to be waiting for.
The driver of the silver car then gets out and gestures at the Mercedes driver, seemingly frustrated, before eventually driving away.
Francis described the incident as an example of people "fighting over a parking lot", but said it's best not to let such situations escalate.
"As members of society, it's our responsibility to correct bad behaviour - but without being violent or damaging anyone's property and be willing to back off if the situation escalates," he shared.
He added that getting into a confrontation over parking is rarely worth the trouble.
"Just find another space," he said. "What else am I going to do? Have the other person's car towed?
"I may mutter some naughty words under my breath, but that's it.
"Then again, I very seldom wait for a space, unless the person leaving already has their car in reverse. I don't stop and sit and hold up others.
"It's not worth it, they are being very rude, but it's not worth a confrontation.
"Take a deep breath and find another parking spot.
"The world is full of idiots and this is just another one of them.
" You might say you're sick and tired of people like this taking advantage of you or others. You might even want to escalate the situation. That rarely ends well.
"The sooner you realise you can't make an example of each and every idiot in the world, the better off you'll be.
"Get on with the rest of your day and reserve your anger and frustration for things in this world, or your world, that really matter.
"These spaces are public conveniences, they do not have your name on them unless it is a private reserved space with a sign that does have your name on it, in which case you can call a towing company."
