Kids play in Punggol area with 'no football' signs, ball allegedly hits head of elderly woman sitting on bench
There's a reason for the signs.
An elderly woman in Punggol was allegedly hit in the head by a ball as kids were playing with the ball in an area where they shouldn't.
A Stomper heard that the woman was sitting on a bench facing the playground in front of Block 204B Punggol Field when it happened.
The Stomper said boys are still playing in the area, disregarding the "no football" signs on several lamp posts.
"Despite these markings, the area seems to be regularly used for ball games, which could potentially lead to unintended injuries or conflicts among the children playing there," said the Stomper.
She once approached the kids and pointed to the signage. They dispersed but were back in 30 minutes.

"There's a playground beside the large area with very young children playing. Twice, I witnessed the ball being thrown towards the playground which could have hit any child or an elderly," she said.
"There were two other residents there who expressed concerns with one sharing that a ball had hit his elderly mum on her head while she was seated on the bench facing the playground."
As a concerned parent of an 18-month-old toddler who frequents the playground, the Stomper has written to the town council to take enforcement action.
"This might include increasing signage, periodic monitoring or educating park users about the designated areas for different activities," she said.
"Alternatively, the town council can consider constructing nets around the area to provide these teenagers opportunities to play ball safely."
The Stomper added: "I understand the importance of providing recreational opportunities for children, but it is equally crucial to enforce the rules and guidelines in place to maintain safety within the premises."
Stomp has contacted Punggol-Pasir Ris Town Council for more info.
