Stompers find insect in salad, plastic in peanuts from FairPrice outlets in Tiong Bahru and Choa Chu Kang
An insect was found in a salad and a piece of plastic was found in a packet of peanuts from FairPrice outlets in June.
Stomper Catherine had paid $10.65 for the salad from the FairPrice Finest supermarket in Tiong Bahru Plaza on June 21 at 10.44pm.
"I bought a salad for breakfast ad found a dead housefly," said the Stomper, who shared photos of the carcass among the vegetables.
"This is very disappointing. I'm not sure it's still can be eaten. Stomach pain, how? If thrown away, such a waste, but a housefly can be dangerous to eat."
She told Stomp she eventually threw the mesclun salad away.

In a separate case, another Stomper found a piece of plastic in a packet of FairPrice house brand cracker peanuts bought from the FairPrice supermarket at Lot One Shoppers' Mall in Choa Chu Kang on July 13.
"After contacting their customer service portal, they offered me a refund for this pack by returning it to the store," said the Stomper who shared a photo of what he found in the nuts.
"But my point here is more about the safety of the food rather than the $1.41 refund."

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for FairPrice Group said it takes food quality and safety issues seriously and is dedicated to upholding high standards of food safety.
"We have conducted a thorough investigation with our suppliers upon receiving the customers' feedback. Our suppliers have since tightened quality checks to prevent recurrence," said the spokesperson.
"Customers can return or exchange products that are of unsatisfactory quality at the same store of purchase, with the receipt."
