Delivery rider apologises after Hougang prata place accused him of stealing food, says he did it for his family

Original article

A Hougang prata place alleged that a Deliveroo rider had stolen more than $150 worth of food by collecting orders and then cancelling them.

Stomper Mohamed of Al-Falah Restaurant at Hougang Avenue 8 said the rider did it three times, most recently on May 10.

"The previous two times we were not aware of it happening," said the Stomper.

"I checked with another rider and he said they do this to steal the food."

The Stomper explained: "The rider would accept the order and show it to us in the shop. After that, he would take the order, leave and just cancel the order. Another rider would then come for the same order.

"More than $150 worth of food he stole from us."

The Stomper said he has not made a police report but has reported the rider to Deliveroo, who told him investigations are ongoing.

Stomp has reached out to Deliveroo for more info.
