A resident raised safety concerns over personal belongings cluttering a common corridor at Block 410A Fernvale Road.

Stomper Rhobin said his neighbour on the 12th floor has been "filling the corridor with his personal belongings for more than eight years".

The items include potted plants, shelves and racks.

"This causes obstruction to the passageway and poses a fire hazard," he added.

Rhobin said he previously reported the matter to Ang Mo Kio Town Council (AMKTC), but no action appeared to have been taken.

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for AMKTC said it had not received prior feedback about the obstruction.

The town council's property team engaged the resident on Dec 3 and arranged a follow-up visit the next day "to explain the situation further".

The team also issued a notice to the resident to remove the items and said they would continue to follow up accordingly.

"We will continue to monitor the situation and work with residents to ensure common corridors remain compliant with SCDF's fire safety guidelines, which require a minimum clearance of 1.2 metres and prohibit the placement of items at staircase landings.

"We seek residents' cooperation in keeping our shared spaces safe and accessible," the spokesperson added.
