Driver shocked by $22.50 fee after parking for 3 hours at One Fullerton: 'Extreme profiteering'
Welcome to Stomping Ground - a space where Stompers share reflections, personal essays and social commentaries that spark conversation and insight.
A motorist was left stunned after being charged $22.50 for three hours of parking at One Fullerton on a weekday evening, calling the fees "preposterous".
A Stomper shared with Stomp that he had parked his car at the carpark on March 11 from 7pm to 10pm.
"When I left the carpark, I was charged a whopping $22.50 for 3 hours of parking on an off-peak weekday night," he said.
"When I went back to view the carpark charges, it turns out that after 8pm on weekdays, they charge $1.30 per 10 minutes."
"This is over-pricing, price gouging, and extreme profiteering at its best.
"I would say 99 per cent of car parks in Singapore do not have such extreme pricing, especially during off-peak periods on weekdays."
Although the parking charges were displayed at the entrance, the Stomper pointed out that once a driver enters the carpark lane, there is no way to exit without paying.
"There is no grace period, so there is no way for any driver to avoid paying charges once they have entered the carpark entry lane and changed their mind."
