Diner feels deceived by meal of 'pathetic brown water and horrible lettuce leaves' at Bishan stall
While advertisements are usually understood to be 'for illustration purposes only', a coffee shop stall has been called out for going too far.
Stomper ieat ishoot icomplain said she visited JB Tai Pai Tong Seafood at Kim San Leng Food Centre on Dec 17, at around 1.30pm.
The Block 511 Bishan Street 13 stall was advertising a weekday lunch deal in which diners could get a serving of vegetables and a bowl of soup for an additional $1 with every mini wok rice purchased.

The Stomper recounted: "Reality was proven otherwise when I paid $5 for a plate of ginger and onion fish rice, plus an extra $1 for the above attractive deal.
"Instead of getting a bowl of soup with pork, corn, carrot, potato and onion as shown in the photo, I was served a pathetic bowl of hot brown water with nothing else in the bowl!
"Substituting the generous portion of tasty vegetables shown in that deceiving offer was, in reality, a horrible plate of three leaves of lettuce topped with oyster sauce.
"The rice came with only six slices of fish. How to makan?"
The Stomper felt that her lunch was only worth $3.50, adding: "Being duped out of $6 by the false advertisement, which is misrepresenting the actual product, is too expensive a mistake."
The stall in question has a Google rating of 2.6 stars.
One reviewer gave three stars and said that the $1 deal was "ok".

The reviewer also shared a much more appetising photo of the soup, which was clear instead of brown and came with ingredients.
Ieat ishoot icomplain told Stomp: "There is an appropriate limit to the argument that 'photos are for illustrative purposes only'. The phrase is being taken to an extremely unreasonable level at this stall.
"I hope hawkers in Singapore can be more honest with their food advertisements."
