Disgusted diner sees restaurant worker washing fish near rubbish chute in Changi Village, SFA investigating
A diner was left disgusted after spotting a Tang Tea House worker washing fish in a bucket next to a rubbish chute in Changi Village.
Stomper Eida said the incident happened on Nov 9, after she had finished her late lunch at the Changi Village Road restaurant.
"I was so surprised and disgusted. I had ordered the same fish," she told Stomp on Nov 18.
A video she shared shows a staff member crouched near the rubbish chute area, rinsing pieces of fish in a bucket.
In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said it is investigating the matter.
SFA added: "Food safety is a joint responsibility. While SFA puts in place and enforces regulatory measures, food operators must adhere to good food hygiene and preparation practices. They should also ensure their premises are clean and well-maintained.
"Members of the public who have concerns about food safety practices should report to SFA via the online feedback form."
SFA said it takes a serious view of all feedback alleging poor food safety practices and will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence is obtained.
Stomp has contacted Tang Tea House for more info.
