Cyclist's wrists broken and sprained after 'camouflaged' hump in Bishan causes accident
A cyclist was injured after riding over a hump that he did not notice and getting into an accident.
Stomper Scela said the incident occurred at the T-junction of Bishan Street 22 and Street 23 on July 23, at around 5.10pm. He is still recovering.
The Stomper recounted: "I was riding on the cycling path and trying to go onto the road when I hit this camouflaged hump and had an accident. I broke one wrist and the other was badly sprained.
"The hump is very dangerous, especially since is painted black and blends in with the road. Riders can't notice it from a distance, especially at night."
Scela reported the incident and his safety concerns, but feels blamed for it.
He told Stomp on Sept 3: "I was sent this reply, which I feel is shifting the blame to me instead of focusing on the hump's visibility. The report was made more than a month ago and no action has been taken to date."

Scela, who is currently on medical leave, went for a review and X-ray on Sept 12.
He shared: "I was given another four weeks of MC. I hope this Stomp article will help other cyclists avoid the hazard and also prompt the authorities to do something."
In a separate incident last month, a pedestrian suffered injuries after he tripped and fell over an uneven surface along East Coast Road on Aug 20.
Similarly, the pedestrian told Stomp that he did not notice the black hump. Repair works were carried out shortly after.
