Bidadari resident says property agent flyers at doors are a 'nuisance' and security risk
A Bidadari resident is fed up with the flood of flyers property agents have been leaving at his gate for over a year.
Stomper Angry Resident shared that apart from the flyers being an eyesore, they could also be a potential security risk for homeowners.
"Whenever I see those flyers from property agents at my door, I always have the urge to call the numbers on the flyers to scold them," he told Stomp.
"Think about it... my whole family is out on vacation for almost 2 weeks, and the flyers stay at the door for that duration."
"Everyone passing by my flat WILL know that no one is at home.
"Without good neighbours, those with bad intentions might do something unimaginable."
The resident added that he has been receiving flyers since the end of last year, before their flat reached its Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) in July 2024.
The MOP, during which the Housing Board does not allow homeowners to sell or rent out the entire flat, stretches for five years from when the homeowners move in.
The Stomper described the constant stream of unsolicited materials as a 'nuisance' that he has had to put up with for almost a year.
"I hope the association of property agents or the government can restrict the practice of putting flyers on the doors of houses for the safety and security of the homeowners and their property," he said.
"I know property agents work hard towards meeting their sales targets, but they cannot put homeowners at risk."
This is not the first time Bidadari residents have expressed frustration at property agents hoping to earn a commission.
Shin Min Daily News reported in October that over 200 households had put up 'do not disturb' notices or signs on their doors to keep these agents away.
While some flats have reportedly been sold for more than $1 million each, not every resident in the estate is hoping to flip their flat for a profit.
