A 59-year-old motorcyclist was injured in a hit-and-run accident along the Seletar Expressway (SLE) on Sept 15.

The incident happened at about 11.05am towards Tampines, near the Woodlands Avenue 12 exit.

Stomper Wayne alerted Stomp to the incident and shared screenshots of the rider's wife's Instagram stories, in which she recounted what happened and appealed for witnesses.

He also shared a photo of the motorcycle lying on its side in the middle of the road.

In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and the police said they were alerted to the accident at about 11.10am. A 59-year-old male motorcyclist was conveyed conscious to Woodlands Health Campus.

A police spokesperson said the accident involved a car and a motorcycle, and that it was a hit-and-run case.

Stomp reached out to the rider's wife, who confirmed the date and time of the accident.

In her Instagram story, she said her husband had been travelling in the third lane when he signalled left to exit at Woodlands Avenue 12.

At the time, there was a bus on the left lane signalling right to enter the highway.

"He slowed down to give way, but suddenly a white or beige vehicle came from behind on his left and side-swept his motorcycle," she wrote. "The impact threw him off his bike, and he landed on the road. The driver did not stop and fled immediately."

She added that her husband suffered a serious injury to his left foot and is awaiting surgery. His motorcycle also sustained visible damage on the left side.

The woman expressed gratitude to passers-by who came to her husband's aid, including a rider who stopped to help and a doctor who rendered immediate assistance.

She is now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has dashcam footage to come forward.

"Any information, no matter how small, could greatly help in identifying the driver involved," she said.

Police investigations are ongoing.
