3-year-old boy suffers cuts on both ears during haircut at Century Square barber shop
A toddler's visit to a barbershop at Century Square in Tampines turned into a painful experience.
Stomper Eza said her three-year-old son suffered cuts close to both of his ears during a haircut at New Nada on May 1 at about 5pm.
"My boy was sitting quietly and didn't move during the process," said Eza.
"But we noticed blood at the side of his ear and saw how rough the barber was while shaving his hair."
She said she immediately pointed out the cut to the barber, but was shocked by his response.
"Instead of tending to the wound, he rubbed it, which made it worse," Eza shared.
"My son started crying from the pain.
"When we checked the other side, there was a scratch too."
Eza claimed the barber continued with the haircut as if nothing had happened.
The family then brought the matter to the attention of the shop's owner.
"He looked at the cut but showed no empathy or concern," she recounted.
"He didn't offer any apology or compensation.
"None of the employees came forward to apologise either."
She added that it was their first time at the shop and they did not pay for the $14 haircut.
"After the commotion, we told them we were not paying and they didn't acknowledge nor offer any apology," she said.
"The cut left a scar on top of my son's ear."
