Fan in 'pure shock' at Hyrox when selfie cam reveals Shinee's Minho next to her
Blackpink weren't the only K-pop superstars in town this weekend — and not all were here for concerts. Shinee's Choi Minho turned up for a very different kind of performance: Hyrox Singapore.
The two-day event, held at Singapore Expo from Nov 29 to 30, is part of a global fitness series that has surged in popularity.
Hyrox combines 1km runs with functional workout stations, repeated eight times. The format has gained a strong following, with June's AIA Hyrox Open Asian Championships drawing nearly 25,000 participants and spectators.
This weekend's edition, however, came with an unexpected twist: Minho and several other South Korean fitness personalities were spotted taking part — and clips of fans swooning quickly went viral.
A shiny view
TikTok user Alicia Aw (@aliciaawww) shared an 8-second clip depicting her "pure shock" at realising she was standing next to the rapper from Shinee.
The on-screen text in her video read: "When it's so crowded during amotti's hyrox race that i didn't even realise THE noona neomu yeppeo man was next to me until my sister turned on her selfie cam".
'Noona neomu yeppeo' is a reference to Shinee's debut single, 'Noona, You're So Pretty (Replay)', released in May 2008.
Ms Aw and her sister were ostensibly watching Kim Jae-hong, better known as Amotti, winner of the second season of Netflix show Physical: 100, compete in the Mixed Doubles category with his teammate from Physical: Asia, Choi Seungyeon.
Netizens quickly pointed out that Minho was the one "acting nonchalant" in Ms Aw's video, as he appeared to coolly turn away after spotting the camera.
Ms Aw and her sister weren't the only ones struck speechless by Minho's presence.
TikTok user @hi_meihui also shared a video of Minho taking part in the Men's Open Doubles category with Physical: 100's Hong Beom-seok.
The on-screen text simply reads "how my morning went today" before cutting to clips of Minho on the rowing machine and running to the finish line with a topless Hong.
Fans get a nod from Minho
In spite of the physically strenuous challenges, Minho did not forget to acknowledge his fans.
In a 15-second clip uploaded by @nicolewenggg, he is seen nodding slightly at cheering fans and gesturing for them to cheer even louder.
Earlier, a video uploaded on Nov 29 by @taeyeonlyu showed Minho arriving in Changi Airport on Friday night (Nov 28) before the competition and queueing for a taxi the "normal" way.
"This man really doing a lot of side quests," joked one commenter.
