SCDF said in a Facebook post that it was alerted to a fire at about 10.10am.

The fire, which affected the kitchen, was extinguished by SCDF with a water jet.

One person from the flat felt unwell and was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

Nee Soon GRC MP Lee Hui Ying posted on social media: "Appreciate the quick ground support from our Nee Soon Town Council and PA Nee Soon South Community Club teams.

"Our grassroots leaders will continue to keep in touch with the affected family to lend our support."

SCDF said preliminary findings indicate that the fire had likely orginated from unattended cooking.
