Woman accused of stealing Labubu doll with custom-made outfit worth $250 from Plaza Singapura shop
A 23-year-old woman was charged on Nov 20 of stealing a Labubu doll with custom-made outfit worth $250 from a Plaza Singapura shop.
The police said Singaporean Christina Han Jiyoon allegedly stole the toy figure from the Co-Play store in the mall on April 21.
She was arrested on April 23.
The offence of theft in dwelling carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine.
In January, a 22-year-old man was charged for stealing multiple toys at Plaza Singapura, including a Labubu plush valued at $280.
It was recently reported that film studio Sony Pictures closed a deal to develop a movie based on the Labubu dolls. It is in the early stages of development and it has not yet been decided whether it will be live action or animation.
But it has also been reported that the popularity of the Pop Mart character has faded.
