Two people were trapped in their vehicles after a six-vehicle chain collision in Sembawang on the morning of Nov 14.

The police said they were alerted to the accident at the junction of Admiralty Road East and Deptford Road at around 6.50am.

The accident involved a motorcycle, a car, a van and three lorries.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said the drivers of a lorry and a van were found trapped in their seats, and were rescued using hydraulic rescue equipment.

Four people - a 56-year-old male motorcyclist, a 38-year-old male van driver, a 71-year-old lorry driver and his 42-year-old male passenger - were taken conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, said the police and SCDF.

Police investigations are ongoing.

In a video of the accident posted to Facebook page Roads.sg, a van is seen moving at a high speed towards vehicles that are coming to a stop at a traffic-light junction.

The van then crashes into the back of two lorries consecutively, pushing the two vehicles out of the lane they were travelling in.

The first lorry is seen swerving and hitting another lorry, a car and a motorcycle before coming to a stop at the road divider. The motorcyclist is knocked off his vehicle, and is later helped up by a car driver.

In another video showing the aftermath of the accident, posted to Facebook by the SGRV page, SCDF personnel are seen at the scene.
