Taxi driver urinates into bag while passenger in cab: 'Should I complain?'
A taxi passenger whose driver urinated in the cab during his ride is in two minds about whether to report the incident or not.
Redditor @LemonCrisis posted on Dec 14 that he had just started a short journey to Harbourfront Centre when the driver took out a plastic bag and urinated into it.
In an update, LemonCrisis added that they had just passed a petrol station when the driver decided it was "boh pian" (vernacular for "no choice").
In addition, the driver remained unapologetic when told that he should have warned the passenger about what he was going to do.
"I find no joy in having someone lose their source of income. But I also have to think about the next passenger, the whole situation was pretty dangerous (and vile)," he says in the post.
"Should I (lodge) a complaint or just let it pass since he's just an old man?" he asked.
Commenters equally divided
The post has since garnered 285 upvotes and 135 comments, with commenters just as divided as to whether the taxi driver had crossed the line.
Some netizens felt the passenger should be more understanding..
"Poor dude, probably has incontinence, I am sure no one in the right mind would wanna do that. That being said, still sorry to OP for having to go through that," said one.
"Likely he got sickness but need to feed his family. Give chance la," another said.
Others felt the driver had gone too far and would do it again if not reported.
"What's with all the people saying medical condition give chance [sic]? So now the job has to fit the person? Sorry [sic] but there's a line and I draw that at whipping out to pee in the car while driving ... t's dangerous and unhygienic," said a Redditor.
Another called the act disgusting: "Compassion is when the driver needs to use the loo and request for a stop and a longer journey. It's not for him to openly piss in front of the passenger while driving which is both disgusting, potentially outraging the modesty of the passenger and downright dangerous," said the Redditor.
When contacted by Stomp, the original poster said he had not decided whether to report the driver. He also declined to name the taxi company.
