A car was briefly blown off the road by strong winds in Malaysia, violently slamming into another vehicle as it landed.

Footage of the incident was shared by Threads user @zhaeim on Oct 13.

The video shows a blue Perodua Alza being lifted briefly by the strong gale amid a thunderstorm.

As it lands, the rear of the blue car slams into the side of a stationary white Perodua Ativa on an adjacent lane.

According to Zhaim, the incident occurred at the Damansara Toll Plaza near Kuala Lumpur. However, the date of the incident is unclear.

Netizen stunned that car could be blown off

The video has racked up more than a million views, 25,000 reactions, and 930 comments.

Netizens were shocked that a car could be blown off the road.

“It’s a good thing the road was jammed... Imagine if you were speeding and got hit by that gust... God forbid,” said a Threads user. “Since when does Malaysia have tornadoes, man?????” another asked.

Yet another said: “Wow, it’s just like in the movies — a car being lifted up. The people inside that Alza must have found it hard to believe it was actually being lifted.”

The video was also shared on Facebook page Carlist.my, where it garnered more than 382,000 views, 2,000 reactions, and 141 comments.

“That was NOT an ordinary (gust) of wind... That was a TORNADO in the making... No wonder the car got lifted,” said one Facebook user.

“Gustnado, not a tornado. A tornado would’ve wiped that area clean,” another explained.

“Try explaining this to your insurance,” a netizen quipped.

Some actually wondered if the damage would be covered by the owners of the two cars’ insurance.

“Will insurance cover this? Act of God,” said a Facebook user.

An online check showed that standard car insurance policies do not cover damage due to acts of God. However, a special-perils add-on would cover damage in such instances.
