S'porean driver caught trying to smuggle over 2,800 vapes and related parts at Tuas Checkpoint
A 55-year-old man was caught trying to smuggle 2,800 e-vaporisers and related components into Singapore on Nov 17.
The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said officers at Tuas Checkpoint had directed the car driven by the Singaporean man for enhanced checks.
The vapes and related components were found concealed in various compartments of the Singapore-registered vehicle.
The case was referred to the Health Sciences Authority for further investigation.
Sharing photos of the incident in a Facebook post on Dec 1, ICA said: "Border security is a crucial aspect of the enforcement strategy against e-vaporisers.
"As guardians of the nation's borders, ICA remains committed to safeguarding Singapore by ensuring our borders remain safe and secure."
