Spat between stall owner and customer goes viral: 'Why did you say I'm sick?'
A video of a spat between a stall owner and a man that ends with the stall owner calling the police has gone viral, with netizens split as to who was at fault.
The video, which was shared on Facebook page Singapore Incidents, starts with a man accusing a woman who runs the stall of saying he is sick. "You say I have a sickness. You think Singaporeans are very big?" he says in Mandarin.
"You were harassing me earlier," she retorts.
The man filming the video says he did nothing to harass her, but that she said he was sick. Another man in the stall comes forward and says: "Whether you're sick or not, don't create a scene here, we're running a business."
The woman says she will call the police, but the man continues to ask why she said he was sick. When she makes the call, he asks her what he has done.
She says he harassed her and indicates that he had flipped his middle finger at her, adding that the CCTV would have caught his obscene gesture.
He responds by repeating again that the woman had said he was sick.
The video has so far garnered at least 49,000 views, 190 reactions, and 139 comments.
'You all think our police so free'
There is little context as to what might have occurred before the clip, or if the man recording was a customer. His reference to Singaporeans suggests he is a foreigner, and from the woman's call to the police, her stall is located in Bangkit Road.
Netizens were critical of the woman for involving the police.
"You all think our police so free to attend your small problems," said a Facebook user. "Waste public resources," added another.
One netizen suggested: "Police must charge a fee if it's personal ego matters."
Some felt the man filming the video was at fault. "I have to agree with her that he was sick," said a netizen. Another added: "Aiyah...people doing business, you go ka chow (harass) the lady for what?"
One netizen said in jest: "Maybe he (was) too disappointed he didn't get ang pow from his MP at the hawker centre this year."
