Someone overseas tries to send drugs to S'pore by mail in box labelled 'screen protector'
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) foiled an attempt to smuggle controlled drugs into Singapore via a postal article on Oct 23.
ICA officers at the Parcel Post Section had noticed anomalies in the scanned images of a parcel from overseas, said ICA in a social media post on Nov 10.
Upon further checks, 50 assorted tablets suspected to be controlled drugs were found concealed inside a box labelled as screen protector.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the tablets are believed to be Ecstasy.
The case was referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau for further investigation.
Responsible for checks on inbound parcels and mails to ensure that no controlled or prohibited items are brought into Singapore, the Parcel Post Section is part of the Air Cargo Command of ICA, which includes the Changi Airfreight Centre, Airport Logistics Park of Singapore and Seletar Airport.
