A TikToker was left frustrated at Changi Airport when his Roti Prata and Curry Chicken Set from Crave Nasi Lemak, a popular Halal-certified restaurant chain in Singapore, arrived without the curry chicken, as staff had simply forgotten to serve it.

In a 34-second clip, TikToker @young.lost said he was left feeling misled after ordering the Roti Prata and Curry Chicken Set, which came as "two pieces of frozen Indian flatbread (prata)" and a small box of chilli sauce.

Posted on Oct 31, the video - captioned "While I know that airport food is generally expensive and mediocre, this experience with Crave left me disappointed and really pissed off" - has since racked up more than 105,800 views, 732 reactions, and 434 comments at press time.

On Nov 1, the TikToker shared a follow-up to his "curry chicken controversy," including Crave's response. In his post, he shared a direct message from Crave, showing that the outlet had reached out to explain staff had missed serving the curry chicken.

"I was only given the prata with the coffee (Kopi O) initially," he said, adding that "then I went to ask the staff for the curry and they probably mistakenly gave me the small container of chilli instead."

The mix-up led him to think Changi Airport food was overly expensive, as he had paid $7.60 for the meal. He acknowledged that airport food is generally pricey, but not to this extent.

The TikToker later gave Crave a shout-out, as the issue was resolved with a refund, and continued to patronise the store despite previously saying he would not.

He also told Stomp that he has been visiting Crave "for many years" and will "continue to do so". He added that Crave's response has been quick and sincere.

Netizens divided over TikToker's curry chicken mix-up

The incident sparked online debate. Some criticised both the TikToker and Crave, with one calling him "Cheapo" and another questioning the outlet: "How the heck do they expect their customers to eat prata with chilli only?"

"It's an honest mistake, let's move on," one user wrote.

In his first post, many criticised him for complaining about airport food prices, though it later turned out to be a misunderstanding.

Others backed him when he clarified that he did reach out to staff after being served sambal chilli instead of curry chicken.

Some sympathised with him, saying they "would get a shocked too" if in his shoes.

Stomp has reached out to Crave for comment.
