A crew member of a bulk carrier who needed urgent medical attention while out at sea was taken to hospital on a rescue helicopter on Feb 24.
In a Facebook post, the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) said that it activated a Rescue 10 H225M Medium Lift helicopter to evacuate the crew member, who was taken to the Singapore General Hospital (SGH).
In response to queries by The Straits Times, a Ministry of Defence spokesperson said the Rescue 10 search-and-rescue team was activated at about 4.40pm that day to carry out the evacuation and monitored the crew member's vitals on the way to the hospital.
The crew member is reported to be conscious and in a stable condition.
"We commend the RSAF aircrew and SGH's healthcare professionals who stand ready around the clock to save lives," the air force said in its Facebook post.
In a separate incident earlier in February, the RSAF also deployed a Rescue 10 H225M Medium Lift carrier to rescue a crew member on board a vessel at sea.
The RSAF said then that the Rescue 10's activation took place amid the air force's deployment at the then ongoing Singapore Airshow in Changi, which ran from Feb 3 to 8.
Rescue 10 has responded successfully to three such activations so far in 2026, said the MINDEF spokesperson.
