A recycling truck had just collected recyclables from a recycling bin when the collection suddenly caught fire.
The truck quickly unloaded the recyclables and the blaze was subsequently put out by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
The incident happened at around 10.50am on March 4, at the void deck of Block 616 Woodlands Avenue 4.
According to Shin Min Daily News, a video taken by a nearby onlooker showed that the fire broke out at the loading area below the HDB block.
A 25-year-old resident told Shin Min Daily News that his father saw the incident through their kitchen window.
"He saw black smoke coming out of the recycling bin," said the resident.
"The recycling truck dumped the contents of the bin into its back and suddenly there was a big fire."
He added that the sprinkler system in the truck activated but failed to extinguish the flames.
The truck driver quickly unloaded the burning recyclables onto the ground.
A worker said some residual batteries were found among the burnt items.
The SCDF said nobody was injured and the cause of the fire was being investigated.
