Foreign influencer Kaz Sawyer has landed in hot water after a viral stunt at Marina Bay Sands' exclusive infinity pool.

After allegedly sneaking into the hotel's pool without being a guest and posting about his experience, Sawyer faced death threats and online backlash, prompting him to post a TikTok video addressing the incident.

The one-minute clip, titled "Addressing the Singapore trespassing incident", was uploaded on Oct 28 and has since racked up more than 21,400 views, 1,900 likes and 50 comments.

'You can't believe everything you see on social media'

In the video, Sawyer claimed the situation had been blown out of proportion and said he had received threats of death and jail time in Singapore.

"I truly loved my time in Singapore and their culture, and meant no disrespect by this video," he said, adding that his intention was only to create a "fun viral video that I thought would be harmless".

He acknowledged that the pool is reserved for hotel guests but declined to clarify whether he had actually trespassed. "You can't believe everything you see on social media," he added.

"I am not going to confirm or deny whether I was a hotel guest staging the video or if I truly did trespass," he said. "I just want to provide some perspective."

Sawyer also apologised "to the hotel and anyone else who I harmed or offended," saying he hoped to settle the issue so he "can come back and visit again".

Later, he joked in the comments: "Or maybe that whole video was actually just Sora AI."

'Totally Staged': Netizen

While some netizens believed the video was faked, others continued to criticise Sawyer.

"If you were a guest, you would have nothing to apologise for," one netizen wrote, while another said: "Totally staged. He paid to enter and to get the social attention."

Others pointed out it wasn't a threat but a fact if he had truly trespassed.

"It's not a jail time threat but a reality if MBS decided to press charges. @ICA_Singapore will apprend you even if you transit through Changi," said a TikToker.

Others expressed disbelief at the situation, remarking: "Of all the countries in the world, you had to come to Singapore and test our system."

One quipped: "Come back to Singapore and give a formal apology then."
