'New MRT management': Otters spotted running through Khatib MRT station
A group of three otters has been spotted scampering through Khatib MRT station, running along a sheltered walkway before heading towards a grassy area.
The sight left many netizens amused, while others raised questions about human-wildlife coexistence.
An 18-second clip of the animals was posted on subreddit r/singapore by user Remote_Fisherman_469, showing the otters running along the pathway towards the MRT gantry.
The animals proceed to climb over a ledge towards a grass patch, before crossing the road towards another green space. The station appears mostly empty, except for one or two passers-by.

Netizens amused and concerned
Most netizens were amused at the sight, joking that the otters must have taken the Mandai shuttle bus, while some said that they were "new management" brought in to run the MRT.
Others were more wary, citing less positive experiences with the animals.
"These otters came to my school and ate the koi," one user recalled, adding that the school later put up a sign to warn people against interacting with the otters.
Another expressed concern about how the animals had reached the station. Netizens pointed out that the nearest body of water was Lower Seletar Reservoir, about 2.6km from the MRT station, separated by multiple roads.
Several users defended the animals, urging the public to leave them alone: "Well, clearly they know where they're going. They're not loitering, they're not bothering passersby, and they're not being delayed by the trains breaking (again)."
One netizen called the Reddit thread "such a Singapore moment", suggesting that netizens' reactions were also uniquely Singaporean.
"It has otters, the MRT, people complaining about the otters, people saying they are cute, people saying they are dangerous, people saying they are too fat, and people joking about the MRT.
It's just the perfect summary of our online zeitgeist."
