From parliament to acting?

Former Nee Soon GRC MP Carrie Tan revealed in a Facebook post that she recently won the "Best Actor Award" at director Jack Neo's acting boot camp.

Having quit politics in April, the 43-year-old said on Nov 9 that she signed up for the five-week acting boot camp "just for fun".

She also attended a gala for the J Team Bootcamp.

'New discovery… I CAN ACT'

Tan joined Cohort 2 of the boot camp, with 38-year-old local actor Maxi Lim serving as her celebrity mentor.

During the boot camp, she acted as characters ranging from a "badass hooligan" to a "concubine".

She also played a military character, posing in front of an Ah Boys To Men poster, as participants remade scenes from Neo's films.

Recalling her time during the boot camp, Tan said she discovered how fun acting is.

"Celebrating my new friends and classmates from this experience too. We made a great team together and held space for each other to discover and learn together," Tan wrote.

'So much talent in the cabinet': Netizen

"I loved reading about your journey from politics to acting, and now this award is just the cherry on top!" one user commented.

Some wryly noted the parallels between politics and performance, with one alluding to former Manpower Minister Josephine Teo tearing up in Parliament: "Carrie Tan won't stand a chance if JTeo joined."

Others were critical of Neo, calling the boot camp a "cash grab".

"Who are all these ppl? I don't recognise a single person," one netizen quipped.
