A 22-year-old man was arrested after allegedly slashing another man at Hougang Avenue 8 on April 17.

While he was being arrested, he injured three police officers after attacking them with a wooden plank with nails. The officers suffered minor injuries.

The police said they received calls for help at around 1.10pm and saw the man running around naked.

He had allegedly attacked a 31-year-old man earlier.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said they received a call for assistance at 1.30pm at Block 681 Hougang Avenue 8.

The suspect was arrested for voluntarily causing hurt by grievous means and for voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from performing his duty.

A knife and a wooden plank with nails were seized as case exhibits. Police investigations are ongoing.

A woman who works in the area and wanted to be known only as Ms Seah, 27, said: "We were told by the police earlier to keep our windows closed and locked as the suspect had fled at first.

"We're relieved to find out later that he had been arrested."
