'My childhood hangout place': Isetan at Tampines Mall shutters after 30 years
The Isetan department store at Tampines Mall shuttered on Nov 9, marking the end of 30 years of operations.
In a Facebook post on Nov 10, Isetan announced that it had officially shuttered following the expiry of its lease agreement, and thanked its customers for their support and the memories shared over the years.
Isetan has two remaining outlets in Singapore, located at Shaw House and Nex.
'My childhood hangout place'
A TikTok video uploaded by @obamasharon88, showing an Isetan representative thanking customers as they make their final purchases, has been circulating online.
"Thank you for your support over the years. It is our pleasure to serve you," says the woman.
The clip has amassed over 246,000 views and more than 580 comments as of press time, with netizens bidding farewell to the Japanese department store.
"My childhood hangout place," a commenter wrote, as many shared memories of being brought by their parents to Isetan Tampines to buy clothes and toys.
Another described Isetan's closure as "heartbreaking", recalling how such department stores were part of their childhood.
