SINGAPORE - Five people were taken to hospital after an accident involving multiple vehicles near Kovan MRT station on the afternoon of Oct 24.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident along Upper Serangoon Road at about 4.30pm.

Five people were taken to Sengkang General Hospital, said SCDF, while two others were assessed for minor injuries and declined to be sent to the hospital.

When The Straits Times arrived at the scene at about 4.30pm, oil, glass and debris were seen on the road, across three out of the five lanes.

A Go-Ahead Singapore bus had come to a stop on the leftmost lane, while a black car with a damaged bumper and hood was seen nearby.

Passengers on board the bus were heard being asked to exit the vehicle slowly.

Two SCDF fire engines and two ambulances arrived at about 4.50pm.

SCDF paramedics treated several people at the scene, including the bus driver.

One of the drivers involved in the accident, who declined to be identified, said: "I was driving and suddenly felt someone hit my car from the back.

"When I got out of my car, I saw at least three other cars and a bus involved too."

The Straits Times has contacted the police and Go-Ahead Singapore for more information.
