Man surprises parents and grandma with SIA business class tickets to New Zealand

A man has earned praise for surprising his parents and grandmother with Singapore Airlines (SIA) business class tickets to New Zealand.

On March 9, Clarence, who goes by @cljy7 on TikTok, posted a video documenting his surprise and his family's reactions as they enjoyed the airport lounge and the in-flight amenities.

The video, titled "Fulfilling this dream of their felt long overdue," has amassed over 595,000 views and 490 comments, with netizens gushing over the TikToker's gesture.

'Love you so much, son'

At the start of the video, Clarence is seen handing five passports to his mother, with the air tickets tucked inside.

The mother appeared oblivious initially, but was visibly stunned when she found out about the surprise.

"Serious?" she asks as she hands the travel documents to Clarence's father.

She was later seen whispering to Clarence's grandmother in Cantonese: "Wow, he's letting all of us fly business class leh!"

"So good ah!" the grandmother said in Chinese as she was pushed in a wheelchair.

Clarence shared in the in-screen caption that his parents had "always chosen us over themselves."

"Seeing them enjoy did something to me," he added.

He included a "bonus message" from his father at the end of the video:

Thank you so much for your SQ Business Class to NZ. Love you so much, son.

'I'd cry the whole flight'

Many netizens commended Clarence for being a filial son, with several saying that they hope to do the same for their parents one day.

"I'd cry the whole flight," one wrote, while another said his parents must be "so happy and proud" of him.

"Manifesting to be able to do this for my parents too one day," a commenter said.

Each ticket cost $5,000

Responding to Mothership's queries, Clarence said that each business class ticket costs about $5,000, bringing his total expenditure to $15,000 for all three family members.

As for his own ticket, Clarence said he had redeemed it using air miles.

He added that he had planned the surprise about three months before the trip.
