Police are investigating after the body of a 47-year-old man was found on the shoreline of Pasir Ris Park on March 22.

Preliminary investigations do not suggest foul play, they said.

Police received a call for assistance at 8.30am that day, and the body was retrieved. A paramedic pronounced the man dead at the scene.

A passer-by, who wanted to be known only as Ms Ng, said she was taking a walk in Pasir Ris Park when a jogger nearby alerted her to a body near the beach.

"I was very shocked when I saw the body myself," the 29-year-old said, adding that she saw three police cars and a Police Coast Guard's patrol craft at the incident site.

"I'm very sorry that this person's life had to end this way."

In a picture posted on Reddit, three uniformed police officers are seen scouring a rocky beach that is bounded by vegetation.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force also said it received a water rescue assistance call, but upon arrival found its assistance was not needed.
