Lost husky finds its way home after couple goes floor by floor to help it look
A couple helped reunite a lost dog with its owner by visiting every floor in an apartment building and letting the dog lead the way.
A video of the heartwarming moment, posted by TikTok user @bigandchunkyyyyy, has gone viral, gaining more than 29 million views and five million likes at press time.
The clip shows the couple taking the brown-and-white husky to every floor and allowing it to run along the corridor. If the dog returned to the lift without stopping at a doorstep, they would move on to the next floor and repeat the process.
"We found this lost dog so we brought him to every level until he found his owner," the on-screen caption reads.
Eventually, the dog stopped in front of a doorstep lined with shoe racks - and that's where it was finally reunited with its owner.
In a follow-up video, the TikToker explained that she and her boyfriend had found the upset husky alone in a carpark area around midnight. They then tried to ask around to see if anyone has lost a dog.
After several unsuccessful attempts to locate its owner, they noticed the dog whimpering near a door.
Upon opening the door, the dog bolted towards a nearby lobby, which the couple gained access to with the help of security guards. The trio then began their floor-by-floor search for the dog's home.
The dog initially paused in front of a unit on the fourth floor, but it turned out that its owner lived a level above.
Once they got there and the owner opened the door, the dog dashed into the house.
"Bro can't tell the diff, but he is home safe," said the TikToker.
Netizens gush over dog
The video drew thousands of comments from amused and touched viewers, with many calling the dog "smart" and "well-behaved".
Others were more sceptical, asking how such a large dog could have gone missing in the first place.
One netizen shared a similar experience. "This happened to my dog once. Ex dropped the leash by accident hauling in a bunch of stuff and didn't notice. Elevator door closed and we realized he wasn't behind us. Found him causing chaos in the lobby of our building," the user said.
Another explained: "This is a normal thing with huskies. They roam off on adventures but can never find their way home. They run so far they lose track of where they are."
"Huskies are the biggest escape artist," quipped a commenter.
Several netizens applauded the couple for leading the dog back home. "I shall thank you kind sir, for your simple yet exquisite act of kindness you just did. You are truly a phenomenal figure for this society," said one.
