Girl in ACJC uniform jaywalks at Clementi Road junction, narrowly avoids collision with motorcyclist
A girl in an Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) uniform was seen jaywalking at a junction along Clementi Road, nearly colliding with a motorcyclist.
In a dashcam video uploaded on Reddit on April 1, she is seen crossing at the junction of Clementi Road and Bukit Timah Road while the traffic light was still green for vehicles.
The clip was originally posted on the Facebook group ROADS.sg but has since been taken down.
The motorcyclist was travelling in the middle lane when the girl suddenly emerged from the left. A van in the adjacent lane had blocked his view of that side of the crossing.
She was also crossing a few metres away from the designated pedestrian crossing, stepping into the path of oncoming vehicles.
Both the girl and the motorcyclist stopped abruptly after the near collision.
The motorcyclist could be heard saying, “What are you doing?”, raising his arm to gesture towards the pedestrian crossing.
The girl was also seen pointing a finger at the motorcyclist, appearing displeased, before returning to the crossing.
‘Doesn’t look remorseful’
The Reddit thread, captioned, “ACJC, teach your students to cross roads better”, garnered more than 160 comments, with many netizens criticising the girl’s reaction.
A commenter noted that she “doesn’t look remorseful”, while others described her as “nonchalant”.
“Her attitude was the bigger issue. It seems she didn’t feel she was doing anything wrong,” another wrote.
However, one commenter acknowledged that while the girl was “largely in the wrong”, they felt the motorcyclist may have been travelling “too fast”, adding that drivers should slow down when approaching pedestrian crossings, especially during heavy traffic or when views are obstructed.
Stomp has reached out to ACJC for comment.
