A family of four allegedly left Lai Huat Seafood Restaurant, located at 72 Horne Road in Kallang, without paying their $119.80 bill on the evening of Nov 15, according to Shin Min Daily News.

Owner hopes family will return to pay

Restaurant owner Lin Baoxing (transliterated), 54, told Shin Min Daily News that the group—a couple in their 60s and two adults in their 30s—arrived around 7pm and ordered several dishes.

The party had sat at an outdoor table and ordered a plate of pomfret, vegetables, drinks, and other dishes.

Mr Lin said his wife served the family and didn't notice anything unusual. The restaurant was also not particularly busy at the time. After finishing their meal, the group got up and left without paying their bill.

He claimed that the restaurant staff only realised the payment was missing when they were clearing the table. Mr Lin then reviewed CCTV footage and saw the group calmly standing up to leave before a car picked them up outside.

As the family did not appear to be in a rush, Mr Lin alleged they may simply have forgotten to pay.

"They're not regulars and I don't have any means to contact them," he told Shin Min.

"I posted about this online as I'd hoped the family would return to pay their bill. However, it's been a week and no one has returned."
